The Department of Sport and Recreation has provided $120,000 in funding to the Royal Life Saving for the next three years to ensure that regional communities are not disadvantaged in the delivery of Pool Operations, Pool Lifeguard and Austswim Program.

This funding will ensure LIWA Aquatics members have access to training for themselves and their staff in up to six remote areas each year. This will ensure that affordable training is delivered across the state with two Pool Operations, two Lifeguard and two Austswim courses conducted each year.

Royal Life Saving has supported the industry for many years in the delivery of remote area training and this funding will allow them to continue that great connection with industry. It will also make it easier for Pool Operators and Pool Lifeguards to maintain accreditation to LIWA Aquatics and comply with Code of Practice.

On behalf of the aquatic industry I would like to acknowledge the Director of Programs and Services Jennifer Riatti and our wonderful Industry Consultant Tanya Mills from the Department of Sport and Recreation for their support in acknowledging the need for this funding. This is a great example of how we can work together in partnership to ensure our industry personnel have access to training and professional development opportunities.
