On behalf of the Board of LIWA Aquatics     I would like to wish all our members across Western Australia and the Eastern States a very happy and safe Xmas and New Year Period.  While the rest of the country slips into holiday mode aquatic facility managers across Australia head into peak season.  The west coast has had a great start to the season with some warm days getting patrons thinking about heading to the pool again.

All our country pools are back in full swing for another year servicing regional communities across the state.  These members are the backbone of the industry as often their facilities form the hub of the delivery recreation services in the community.  They work long hours through the summer months to ensure access to the facility and promoting a healthy lifestyle and physical activity opportunities to their shires.

It has been a great year for LIWA Aquatics     with our regional and state seminars attracting great participation from the industry.  The LIWA Aquatics     Website and Directory are keeping members engaged with what is happening and the E-News letter has had very good feedback.  By the time you read this you will have received your first copy of the Aquatic Recreation Australia Journal which is a landmark for LIWA Aquatics    .

The accreditation process as required by the Code of Practice has seen 207 individuals issued with their accreditation up until the 15^th of December.  I commend all of you for ensuring both you and your staff members are compliant against the Code.  To those of you who have not accredited you have until October 1^st 2010 to undertake the process to ensure you are accredited by LIWA Aquatics    .

Next year is shaping up as a busy one as we focus on the roll out of the Generic Operations Manuals, the further development of Watch Around Water in Western Australia and the Eastern States and our professional development program.  Watch out for dates and details.

In closing I want to thank the Board of LIWA Aquatics     and our Executive Officer for their contribution to the industry over the past 12 months.  Their contribution ensures Western Australia has the best Peak Aquatic Body in Australia.  I would also like to recognise our major supporters, the Department of Sport and Recreation and Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia (Inc) for their assistance and support over the past 12 months.
