Following a decade long tenure, the CEO of YMCA of Perth Inc ("YMCA Perth"), Ron Mell, has been appointed as the new Melbourne-based national CEO of YMCA Australia.

Undertaking the state-based CEO position in 2001, Mr Mell has led the strategic development of YMCA Perth and its business growth over the past ten years.  This has included a particular focus on early intervention and support for children, young people and families, the welfare of whom he considers as the key to better communities.

During his time with Perth YMCA, Mr Mell has identified and implemented significant changes and embarked on many wonderful opportunities for Perth YMCA," says Daniel Law, Acting President of Perth YMCA.

"Mr Mell has been with Perth YMCA for ten years and during that time has selected and developed an outstanding executive and management team. We have no doubt that, while he is moving on to his new role, Perth YMCA's mission will continue to be delivered by a team of very talented people."

"Furthermore, we are confident Mr Mell will bring his dedication, experience and expertise to his new role of CEO, YMCA Australia and ensure its continued strength and growth," Mr Law adds.

Mr Mell's career includes a15 year tenure in public service investigative and management positions, ten years as a Certified Practicing Accountant and six years in business in Indonesia. The past ten years have been spent as the Chief Executive Officer for YMCA Perth.

The YMCA Perth Board of Directors has begun a recruitment process to search for a new CEO.

The YMCA is a community-based not-for-profit organisation with over 150 years of experience working with children, young people and families. The organisation delivers programs and services to help build strong people, strong families and strong communities across WA.

The LIWA Aquatics Board and Members wish Ron and Janet well in their move and in the new position in Melbourne.
