Important information for all LIWA Aquatics Members The comments below come from the findings of an inquest into the drowning of a young child at Rockhampton Pool in January 2007. "These findings seek to explain, as far as possible, how this child's death occurred on 4th January 2007. The child drowned at a public pool after attempting to use a large inflatable device in the deep end of the pool. Following the court hearing the evidence in this matter where learning's can be made to improve safety, changes to industry practice may be recommended with a view to reducing the likelihood of a similar incident occurring in future." This was a tragic event but it is one we can all learn from. LIWA Aquatics will work closely with the Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia to review relevant documentation for inflatable device operations.
