Yardstick is an international benchmarking project operated in Australia by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) in partnership with the New Zealand Recreation Association. Yardstick Pools and Leisure Centres is a valuable tool, which allows benchmarking over time with other facilities. Yardstick Pools and Leisure Centres is a business improvement initiative developed by the pools and leisure centre industry, for the industry. It collects and compares information on the provision of services, cost of provision, revenue, usage, staff resources, programs and marketing, asset management, planning and policy information.

LeisureCheck is a swimming pool and leisure facility customer survey that has been developed by a group of leisure facility managers. Where Yardstick Pools and Leisure Centres measures the inputs to pools management, LeisureCheck measures the outputs - i.e. customer satisfaction.

It provides you with a ready made set of questions, a robust methodology, survey implementation instructions, training and tools. It enables participants to add a few specific questions to survey. Survey data is supplied to a professional research company who analyse the data and produce a report containing results from all the participating organisations that enables comparison and benchmarking.
