Page 1 of 2 A traineeship is a full-time or part-time employment based training arrangement. During the course of a traineeship, a trainee gains work experience and has the opportunity to learn new skills in a hands-on environment. On successful completion, the trainee earns a nationally recognised qualification. A traineeship is a valuable first step to a rewarding career.
New Worker Traineeships
A New Worker's Traineeship is available to new employees who need to be signed up within three months of employment. The trainee will complete a Certificate II or III in Sport and Recreation or Community Recreation. A new trainee will need to meet the following criteria:

Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a New Zealand passport holder who has been resident in Australia for at least 6 months;

Have reached secondary school leaving age, or have written approval from the Department of Education and Training to take up the traineeship;

Be employed for at least 20 hours each week;

Be a new worker or, if returning to work for a previous employer, have had a break in employment of at least 6 months;

Not hold a qualification at the same or higher level that is related to the traineeship.

Course Information Course Duration: 6 - 24 months

Certification: All successful students will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
Or Youth Skills Traineeship The Youth Skills Initiative Traineeship is available for existing workers up to 24 years of age. You do not need to be a new employee to be eligible for this traineeship. The Youth Skills Initiative allows existing employees who normally would not qualify for traineeships because they are already employed, to access training and achieve a qualification recognised across Australia.
