The Water Corporation and the Leisure Institute of WA Aquatics (LIWA) have been working in partnership to establish where water is used within aquatic centres in Western Australia. Through consultation with the industry it became clear that there was a need for more information regarding the re-use of water and alternative sources.
Research tells us that in aquatic centres a large amount of water is used for showers therefore re-use of greywater is a potential option to replace scheme water for irrigation. This report outlines the regulatory issues and potential opportunities for using greywater for irrigation and also rainwater to flush toilets. It was commissioned with the intent that it be made available as a template for the WA aquatic industry to further investigate opportunities for both greywater and rainwater as alternative sources to scheme water in their own centres.

The report has been published with the permission of the Town of Cambridge and Bold Park Aquatic Centre.
