The new Australian Standard 2927:2019, "The storage and handling of liquefied chlorine gas" is out for public comment and will effect a large quantity of aquatic facilities in Western Australia.  The draft is open for public comment until 13th September 2019.

cl2 cylinderLIWA Aquatics has been in consultation with IXOM and we feel the changes to the new standard are reasonable and will not affect WA in any major way as aquatic facilities are already audtited regularly.  Please note that this draft covers on all aspect of Chlorine Gas and is only appropriate to Aquatic Facilities in certain areas of the standard as other areas could be more related to Waste Water Treatment plants and similar facilities.

LIWA Aquatics has compiled some feedback from industry from the first round of consulation and has already provided feedback on behalf of the industry to Australian Standards.  Feedback was primarily around clarification on some elements were it seem to contradict itself around the installation of Automatic Shutoff Devices (ASD).  This has been cleared up and ASD will be mandatory for all Aquatic facilities (swimming pools).
